Installing using the following guide.

http://www.edugarage.com/display/BBDN/Installing+Academic+Suite+-+Developer+Edition#InstallingAcademicSuite-DeveloperEdition-LINUX

Using the following files/versions:

bb-as-linux-9.0.440.0.jar

jdk1.5.0_21

10201_database_linux32.zip

At step 13. Specify the Database passwords.

I get the error "Unable to connect to database site". I've reset all the passwords i thought  it could be using and yet I still get this error. What users should I reset the passwords on to assure that they match with the installtion? What else could cause thsi that I should look into?

Thanks

Could it be a firewall issue between your application and database servers?

Can you connect via pl/sql or a visual DB GUI such as Aqua Data Studio from a different server?

Thanks for the quick replies,

Everything is running on the same server. I did have connectivity problems earlier, but those were stopping me before the password section. The problem is the password being rejected from the error message. So I'm trying to figure out what users are those 4 passwords tied to so I can make sure I'm using the right ones. For testing I been using the same password.

gkroner: I haven't tried a GUI interface. I just used the shell to login as the different users just to make sure I could login with the set password. I'll try and make sure I can login using a GUI interface, but without knowing what users to test I could only test connectivity.

Thanks.

gkroner: I tried using GUI db login and found I couldn't access the DB in this manner. So I decided to reinstall oracle just to be sure.

Not sure exactly what was wrong with the previous installation of Oracle. During the reinstall I made sure all the passwords where properly set(copy paste). This allowed me to install BB9 just fine. Now I have a different problem and  will be looking for other advise once I do some more research to see if there anything in the help files/tutorials that can help.
